Review by: TOModera

So, after many a successful swap and dram and initial notes for a review, we have the mystery drams.
And that bugger Jolarbear gave me 2 this time, when I only gave him one. And what with all the whisky in my brain, I was ready to give him a good tongue lashing, I was, filled with tears and me yelling ‘sorry’.
Then he told me: They suck, don’t worry.
So there you have it. We have Mystery Dram #1, reviewed without ANY information what so ever, save it sucks. And I thought, ‘Well, he might think it sucks, but I may love it.’ That happens.
So, let’s see how the Gold One tastes.

Distillery: Alexander MacGregor & Co.
Bottler: Distillery Bottling.
Region: Blend.
ABV: 40%.
Age: Unknown.
Cask type: Unknown.
Price: N/A.
Color: Light Gold (surprise, eh?).
Nose: Sweet corn, banana pudding, peach, lemon juice, dandelion flower
Faint nose. Nearly have to dunked my head in the Glencairn like some cartoon to get a scent from it. It’s really sweet. Super sweet, I’d say. And really weak.
Taste: Banana, burn, peach juice
Okay… it’s pretty weak. Tastes almost watery. I’m… uh… having trouble picking out anything other than ‘sweet’ and ‘burn’ from it.
It’s kinda like drinking sugar water and a shitty hot sauce.
I know, appetizing.
Finish: Light molasses, mineral water, lime rind
And there’s a little bit of mineral water mixed with the part of the lime you become angry with yourself when you eat accidentally.
The finish is short, not too there.
Conclusion: I want to believe that this is run off from a used rum cask. Maybe has been in there for a bit, and then mixed with vodka.
It’s boring. It doesn’t even have some of the few flavours you can pick out from white spirits. I didn’t even finish it, as it’s empty calories and I’d rather have water.
Final Score: 15.
Guess: MacNaMara Rum finished
Actually: Clan MacGregor
