Jack Daniel’s Heritage Barrel (2019 Release)

Review by: zSolaris

Distillery: Jack Daniel’s

Region: Tennessee

ABV: 50%

Age: NAS.

Barrel No.: HB-20837

Color: 1.6, Mahogany/Henna Notes.

Nose (according to the wife): It starts with a lot of oak and a fresh coat of lacquer. There is a sweeter note of black sugar and molasses as well as a savory note in black pepper beef Jerry.

Palate: Mouthfeel is slightly oily. Warm peanuts are a dominate note along with some molasses. A dash of cinnamon comes along as well.

Finish: Most interesting finish I’ve had in a while. It starts with a peanut note that goes into lacquer and a bit of cherry. Fresh black pepper along with a spice mix (cloves, allspice, star anise, and dash of cinnamon). It ends with a note of rye bread. Very long and complex.

Conclusion: I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Jack Daniel’s single barrel releases and this Heritage Barrel from 2019 is no exception. The nose opens up with a very inviting note of wood lacquer and molasses. The palate is full of a warm, slightly sweet peanut and molasses. The finish is incredibly complex and delicious. The various spices in here are phenomenal and make you want more. Would I buy a bottle? Oh yes.

Final Score: 85.
