Color: 0.7, Amber.
Nose: It’s sweet with a lot of honey and malt barley coming through. A bit of straw and lemon join in as well..
Palate: Much like the nose, it’s fairly sweet and light. You get a lot of malt along with a cooling sensation. Notes of lemon candies and candied apples are also present here.
Finish: Medium to short in length. Sweet again with some malt and whipped cream onto of angel food cake.
Conclusion: Glen Grant is the latest of distilleries to try in my quest to try as many Speyside distilleries as possible. This 12 year old expression by them isn’t anything special, but still a decent dram. It’s sweet from start to finish with desert notes popping in and out. It starts off with lemon and continues with lemon candies before ending on a whipped cream and angel food cake note. Comparing it to other entry level malts, this one is like a slightly more flavorful rendition of the Glenmorangie 10. All in all, not bad.
