This rum comes from the independent bottler rum nation who sourced this rum from the Savanna distillery located on Reunion. This rum was aged for 12 years in the tropics in ex-cognac casks as Savanna does. It was followed by 3.5 years in Europe in ex Oloroso Sherry casks before being bottled.

Conclusion: This is a very good rum. I tend to like a good sherry bomb and this fits the bill for sure. Alas, any notion of the base Savanna distillate gets drowned out completely by the sherry finish. I get it, I am a sucker for things finished in Oloroso, but this is just too much sherry for me (and that is saying something). Even so, on a cold winter night like this, it has does have its purpose. A very good rum, but one way out of balance.
