Review by: Raygun

A wheated bourbon from Heaven Hill, released three times a year like Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. It’s younger, at 6-8 years. The mashbill consists of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley. Reviewed from a sample. Rested about 10 minutes.
Distillery: Heaven Hill
Brand: Larceny
Region/style: Kentucky straight bourbon
ABV: 61.6%. Barrel Proof.
Age: Not stated but reputed to be 6-8 years.
Cask type: Virgin oak barrel.
Color: 1.5 auburn. Natural color.
Nose: Caramel, peanut brittle, a touch of orange, and clove.
Palate: Soft and sweet. Pecan pie, vanilla ice cream, maple syrup, and that same hint of orange. Cinnamon rolls.
Finish: More wood and nuts here. Some hazelnut along with the pecan. Caramel chews. Cloves. Nice length. And caramel. Did I mention caramel?
Conclusion: First impression of Larceny is a good one. Not the most complex pour out there, but the flavor is good. Drinks easily at full strength. This disappeared pretty quickly. My last bourbon review was also a wheater, Maker’s Mark FAE-01, and I put these at about the same level.
