This rum comes to us from Demerara Distiller’s Limited located in Guyana. This molasses based rum was distilled in 2009 on the Wooden Continuous Coffey Still, placed in oak casks, then aged for 12 years before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

Nose: Slight Burnt Caramel, a hint of vanilla, slight vegetal notes, lime juice, Dried Apricot
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Toasted Coconut, Vanilla Bean, black tea, dried apricot, faint lime
Finish: Medium length finish, Burnt Caramel, Toasted Coconut, Vanilla, Black Tea, Lime, Dried Apricot
Conclusion: This is a great rum. Oily mouthfeel, good finish. It hits you in that dessert rum kind of mood with the caramel, vanilla, and coconut. Some of the savory elements bring it in. Tropically aged DDL is awesome and I’m glad these are available in the US.
