Monymusk 7 Year (2015) Habitation Velier MMW

Review by: The Auditor

Another fun bottling from Habitation Velier from the Monymusk / Clarendon distillery in Jamaica. There aren’t very many of these tropically aged and near cask strength bottlings floating around so this is a real treat to try.

Distillery: Monymusk

Bottler: Habitation Velier

Region: Jamaica

Still: Pot

ABV: 60.5%. Cask strength.

Age: 7 years. Distilled in 2015. Bottled in 2023.

Cask type: Ex-Bourbon, 7 years in Jamaica

Price: $140.00

Color: Natural Color. Non-chill-filtered.

Nose: Cherry, Graham Cracker, Raspberry, Vanilla, Slight iodine, Star Anise

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Cherry, Raspberry, Vanilla iodine, Graham cracker, star anise, pencil eraser

Finish: Medium length finish, Star Anise, Raspberry, Vanilla, iodine, Cinnamon, pencil eraser

Conclusion: Another great tropically aged Jamaica rum from Monymusk and Habitation Velier. Good medicinal notes, really fruity, a bit of rubber eraser, and that heavy star anise note that lingers. We need more rums from Monymusk like this.
