Review #1087; Rum #414

This rum was distilled at the J Gow distillery in Scotland. This marque of molasses based rum was fermented to 9% over 5 days, distilled to 85% in a single pass, then diluted to 50 % with no additives or ageing.
Distillery: J Gow
Bottler: J Gow
Region: Scotland
ABV: 50%
Nose: Brine, touch of vanilla, bit of orange.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, lemon, bit of orange, brine.
Finish: Short finish, lemon, orange, vanilla.
Conclusion: I can appreciate that a distiller in Scotland is trying their hand at making rum. However this falls a bit flat for me. The flavors even at this higher proof don’t really wow or punch in heavily.
