Review #1096; Rum #423
This rum was distilled at La Favorite distillery on the island of Martinique. This is an ongoing series from La Favorite that bottles this rum from a 4 hecatres part of their distillery that grows Red Cane. This cane was pressed and the juice distilled on a column still. It was bottled with no additives.
Distillery: Rivers
Bottler: Rivers
Region: Grenada
ABV: 75%
Still: Pot
Nose: Brine, Chlorine, Chalk, Beef Bouillon, Sharpie Marker, Lemon Peel, Iodine, Olive Oil, cement glue, banana, plastic bag
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Meaty, Lemon Peel, Iodine, Beef Bouillon, Chalk ,Umami, cement glue, banana, plastic bag
Finish: Long finish, meaty, lemons, iodine, beef bouillon, chalk, umami, minerality, banana, plastic bag
Conclusion: This is a great rum. That strong lemongrass and minerality note dominates this which is enjoyable, a bit of fruits pop in and out as does the brine. It all comes together very well and is great to sip neat and likely is killer in a Ti Punch too. This runs pretty cheap in Europe too, so I’d consider throwing it in a big order of agricole.
