Distillery: Demerara Distillers Limited
Bottler: Demerara Distillers Limited
Region: Guyana
ABV: 54.4%
Still: Coffey Column
Cask: 1 year ex-Bourbon in Guyana, 21 years ex-Uitvlugt in Guyana
Price: €300
Nose: Slight Motor Oil, Guava, Spearmint, Vanilla, Peppery, faint glue
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, motor oil, guava, spearmint, vanilla, allspice
Finish: Medium length finish, motor oil, guava, minty, vanilla, cedar, allspice
Conclusion: Color me surprised, but this is actually a great rum. That nice industrial oil backdrop serves to guide you through some spices, fruits, and a bit of mint shockingly which isn’t something I get too often in rum. The oak is well balanced and integrates well. Very impressive, but still way too expensive in my opinion.
