Review by: The Auditor

I had this blind then was revealed the bottling, so keep that in mind reading my notes.
This 6 year old Arran was a blend of 3 vatted sherry hogshead that held peated Arran spirit for 6 years before being bottled at cask strength with no color added or chill filtration.
Distillery: Arran
Bottler: Arran
Region: Scotland/Speyside Single Malt.
ABV: 54.2%. Cask Strength.
Age: 6 Years. Distilled in 2012. Bottled in 2018.
Cask type: Sherry Hogshead
Nose: Figs, Sweet BBQ Peat, Bacon, Hay, Graham Cracker
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Sweet Peat, Candied Bacon, Figs, Graham Cracker, Plums, Nutmeg, Orange Peel
Finish: Medium length finish, Candied Bacon, Figs, Plums, Nutmeg, Graham Cracker, Brine, Orange Peel
A great beating of sherry and peat. Loads of fruits, candied bacon, and orange peel with spices make this a real standout for me. It doesn’t rise as high as other malts I’ve had but it is quite good.
Guess: Edradour, Sherry Aged, Ex-Oloroso, 11-14 years, 57-59%
A bit off on my guess, but I haven’t exactly been reviewing much malts as of late. But, I have always enjoyed Arran and this one was no slouch either.
