Review #1118; Rum #440
This is a rum bottled by the independent bottler Compagnie des Indes. This rum was distilled at a secret Florida distillery, aged for 14 years, and finished in a French Whisky cask before being bottled. I would venture to guess (doing a light bit of research) that his rum comes from Florida Caribbean Distillers, a large rum distillery that was founded in 1943 and likely the only distillery that could have stocks this old.
Lone Caner is much better at these research things than I am so I will link a review to another rum from this place he wrote that can give a bit more background. https://thelonecaner.com/r0605/
Distillery: Secret Florida Distillery (FCD maybe?)
Bottler: Compagnie Des Indes
Region: Florida
Still: Column
ABV: 44%
Age: 14 Years
Nose: Vanilla, butterscotch, Slight pepper
Palate: Thin mouthfeel, Vanilla, slight butterscotch
Finish: Short finish, vanilla, oak spice, pepper
Conclusion: From what I researched, guessed, and assumed about this rum, I was a bit disappointed it tasted like I thought. Light column still rum, little to no distillate taste, and heavily driven by the cask finish for any kind of flavor. This isn’t offensive or bad in anyway but it is the definition of boring rum.
