Dead Reckoning Killik

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1126; Rum #445

This rum was bottled by Dead Reckoning, an Australian independent bottler that has finally made its way to the US. Here we have rum from Killik, a distillery that uses muck and dunder in their rum production process. This molasses based rum in run through a single retort in bottled unaged at a high proof. It is purported to be high ester and bottled at a high proof.

Distillery: Killik

Bottler: Dead Reckoning

Region: Australia

Still: Copper Pot

ABV: 55%

Nose: Grilled Lemon, Soy Sauce, Vanilla, Brine, slight bubblegum, caramel sauce, milk duds

Palate:  Medium mouthfeel, Grilled Lemon, Soy Sauce, Brine, vanilla, slight bubblegum, caramel, milk duds

Finish: Medium length finish, milk duds, grilled lemon, soy sauce, brine, slight bubblegum

Conclusion: This is very good rum, but the milk dud note brings it down for me. This is firmly in the weird and interesting category and is well made, but I couldn’t drink through a whole bottle of this.

Final Score: 85
