Review #1130; Rum #449
This is a 5 year old rum from Saint Nicholas Abbey on Barbados. This rum was distilled from Cane Syrup that was made from the cane grown at the Abbey. This was then aged for 5 years in ex-bourbon casks before it was bottled at cask strength.
Distillery: Saint Nicholas Abbey
Bottler: Saint Nicholas Abbey
Region: Barbados
Still: Pot Still
ABV: 60%

Nose: Vanilla, Grapefruit, Toasted Coconut Flakes, orange peel
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, touch of oil, grapefruit, toasted coconut, orange peel, Mango, cola
Finish: Long Finish, Grapefruit, Oil, Toasted Coconut, Black Pepper, Orange Peel, Mango, cola
Conclusion: This is great. The fruit flavors standout and there is just the faint touch of some industrial notes. The grapefruit is prominent and delicious and they work well with each other. High prices aside, SNA makes some quality rums.
