Worthy Park Select

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1143; Rum #460

Worthy Park select is a blend of rums from the Worth Park distillery in Jamaica meant, I believe, to occupy the aged Jamaican rum category similar to Worthy Park gold, but for the Worthy Park brand. This bottling is made from Worthy Park molasses that has been distilled on a pot still. The rums in the blend are aged 4-12 years and are bottled with no additives.

Distillery: Worthy Park

Bottler: Worthy Park

Region: Jamaica

Still: Pot Still

Cask: Ex-Bourbon

ABV: 40%

Nose: Baking Spice, cinnamon, allspice, banana, vanilla

Palate: Thin mouthfeel, Vanilla, bit of banana, allspice

Finish:   Short finish, Vanilla, touch of oak, banana

Conclusion: This is just fine, and that is what I suspect it is meant to be. It has a nice flavor, a bit thin but I know that it would be a workhorse in cocktails. If I had this in the US I would likely keep it around as a low proof aged Jamaican workhorse that isn’t high ester but just has a nice balanced low proof flavor.

Final Score: 82
