Saint James Cellar Reserve 2015 5 Year

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1151; Rum #466

This is a batch of Rhum from Saint James, the distillery located on Martinique. This rhum was made from fresh pressed sugarcane, fermented, distilled on a Creole column still, and aged in first fill bourbon barrels for 5 years at origin before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

Distillery: Saint James

Bottler: Saint James

Region: Martinique

Cask: 5 years in (Ex-Bourbon) at origin

ABV: 51.3%

Nose: Cinnamon, Vanilla, Toasted Coconut, Allspice, Dark Chocolate

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Vanilla, Toasted Coconut, Black Pepper, Dark Chocolate

Finish:  Medium length finish, oak spice, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Dark Chocolate, Allspice

Conclusion: A very good aged Saint James. These younger aged agricoles tend to not perform super well for me but this is very good. The flavors are nice and well balanced, but it isn’t as good as some of the other aged Saint James I have tried.
