Impex Long Pond 13 Year ITP 2007

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1152; Rum #467

Here we have a bottle of rum from Impex, an independent bottler in the USA. This rum was distilled in 2007 at the Long Pond Distillery in Jamaica. This rum is the ITP mark, which is light pot and comes in at 90-120 Esters gr/hLAA. This was aged for 13 years with some amount of tropical ageing then bottled at cask strength.

Distillery: Long Pond

Bottler: Impex

Region: Jamaica

Cask: 15 Years Ex-Bourbon

ABV: 53.6%

Nose: Very fruity, Banana, Passionfruit, Guava, Pear Skin, Cumin, Nutmeg

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Banana, Cumin, Nutmeg, Pear Skin, Raspberry, touch of star anise

Finish:  Medium length finish, Star anise, Banana, Nutmeg, Pear, Raspberry

Conclusion: One of the best “low” (for Jamaica) ester rums I have had. The fruits are very powerful in this thing as are the spices that help to balance them out. Strong tart flavors along with the spices make for a very balanced and enjoyable Jamaican rum. Impex has bottled a few on these long ponds now they have been quite good from what I have been able to try.
