Review #1156; Rum #471
Here we have a bottling of Rhum Jm aged agricole for the Boston Rum Social Club. This rhum was distilled from fresh pressed cane Juice on a Column Still before being put into an ex-bourbon cask. The rhum spent 4 years in that cask in Martinique before being transferred to French Oak for 2 years and being bottled with no additives.
Distillery: Rhum JM
Bottler: Rhum JM
Region: Martinique
Cask: 4 years ex-bourbon, 2 years French Oak
ABV: 48%
Nose: Nutty, Figs, Plums, slight Brine, Vanilla
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Figs, Plums, a bit of grass, Vanilla, Nuttiness
Finish: Medium length finish, nutty, figs, grass, black pepper
Conclusion: This is a very good rhum. It’s a nice pleasant and low proof rhum that is quite fruit forward. The French Oak might be a little heavy but I think that helps with the usual unpleasant flavors you can sometimes get from middle aged Rhum Agricole.
