Review #1168; Rum #483
This sample was provided to me by a producer, distributor, or some other industry source free-of-charge. No compensation, outside of the sample, was received and there were no strings attached.
Here we have a very interesting bottle of rum from American independent bottler Raising Glasses. This rum comes from Rummieclub Distillery, a very small crafter distillery located in Amsterdam. This rum is an unaged cane juice rum that was distilled on a pot still. Where did they get the cane juice in the Netherlands? They had it shipped from Vietnam to the distillery frozen. Then it was also bottled at a high proof with no additives.
Distillery: Rummieclub
Bottler: Raising Glasses
Region: Netherlands
Still: Pot
ABV: 61.3%
Nose: Brine, Vegetal, Lime Peel, pungent, Lemon Zest
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, touch of green apple, Brine, Vegetal, Lime Peel, Corainder, Lemon Zest
Finish: Long Finish, Green Apple, Brine, Coriander, Vegetal, Peppery, Roasted Bell Pepper
Conclusion: This is a great-unaged cane juice rum. Its pungent, it’s a bit sweet, a briney and savory. This is a really well executed cane juice rum, and I am surprised to read the cane juice was frozen as this came out much better than I’d ever expect just reading the description.
