Review #1198; Rum #512
Here we have a single cask of rum from Trinidad Distillers Limited. This rum was distilled from molasses on a column still in 1999. It then aged in oak till 2020 when it was bottled at a high proof for The Whisky Cask Company. This was likely aged mostly in Europe.
Distillery: Trinidad Distillers Limited
Bottler: The Whisky Cask Company
Region: Trinidad
Still: Column
Cask: Oak
ABV: 69.1%
Nose: Raspberry, Dark Chocolate, touch of vanilla, mango
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Black Pepper, Mango, touch of salt, Raspberry, grapefruit
Finish: Medium length finish, Mango, Raspberry, Star Anise, salt, black pepper, Grapefruit
Conclusion: A great example of some of the rums that TDL can put out. This is just that classic star anise / raspberry flavor profile with a touch of salinity. It’s not as complex as the other TDL’s Ive tried and is missing a touch of that industrial component, which would have taken it to that next level for me.
