Review #1260; Rum #567
This rum was distilled at Samai distillery in Cambodia which was founded in 2014. This rum is distilled from molasses made from sugar cane crown in the Koh Kong province on a copper pot still after a long fermentation. This bottling aged for 5 years at origin then 3 years in Europe, all in ex-bourbon, before being bottled at cask strength.
Distillery: Samai
Bottler: Velier x Samai Collab
Region: Cambodia
Still: Pot
ABV: 48.7%
Cask: Ex-Bourbon
Nose: Grapefruit, Apple, Coriander, Vanilla
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Grapefruit, Coriander, Apple, Vanilla, Cardamom, and Cinnamon
Finish: Medium length finish, Apple, Grapefruit, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Coriander
Conclusion: I am very impressed with this rum. I wasn’t sure what I was going to get but this is a very well composed, delicious rum. The spices are up front and mix with the fruits very well. A touch of vanilla sweetness brings it all together. What a great offering.
