Review #1273; Rum #578
Here we have a collaboration between PM Spirits, LM&V, and Prestige-Ledroit. In 2022, representatives from each company went down to Hampden Estate and blended together various samples to come up with a 10 cask blend. This blend ended up being 5 casks of 2 year old LFCH, 4 casks of 4 Year LROK, and one cask of 5 year <>H. These were blended and bottled at cask strength with no additives.
Distillery: Hampden Estate
Bottler: Habitation Velier
Region: Jamaica
Still: Pot
ABV: 60%
Nose: Grilled Pineapple, Lime Juice, Vanilla, Allspice, Earthy, Plastic Bag
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Grilled Pineapple, Lime Juice, Vanilla, Plastic Bag, Honeydew, Passionfruit, Earthy
Finish: Long finish, Grilled Pineapple, Vanilla, Plastic Bag, Allspice, Limejuice, Honeydew, Passionfruit, Earthy
Conclusion: This is a fantastic blend from Hampden. The flavors pop but it doesn’t lean heavily into the flavor profile of the extreme high ester expressions they can produce. Its bright, vibrant, and fruity with just a touch of that plastic sneaking in here and there. Overall, an excellent expression from them and a great showing of what a deft blending hand can accomplish.
