Review #1278; Rum #583
This is a single cask of rum from American Independent bottlers Rolling Fork. This molasses rum was aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon casks in Jamaica before being aged another 3 years in the US in a Wheated Bourbon Cask before being bottled at cask strength with no additives for OHLQ (Ohio’s state run liquor store system).
Distillery: Secret (Worthy Park as my guess)
Bottler: Rolling Fork
Region: Jamaica
Still: Pot
ABV: 57%
Nose: Banana, Bready, Allspice, Over-ripe pineapple
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Banana, Allspice, Over-Ripe Pineapple, Vanilla, Black Pepper, hint of cherry
Finish: Medium length finish, Banana, Pineapple, Allspice, Black Pepper, Touch of Vanilla
Conclusion: Dang, this is a really good, high quality, and delicious aged Jamaican rum the folks at Rolling Fork have bottled. It hits some of those classical tropical fruits but is still really bright with touches of spice dotted throughout. Dang, this is just some really great stuff.
