Review by: The Auditor

Review #1285; Rum #590

Here we have a bottling from Chairman’s Reserve, one of the brands from Saint Lucia distillery. The master select series is their single cask, and at times, single still line. This is rum was distilled from molasses on the Vendome pot still, aged for 16 years at origin, and bottled with no additives for Total Wine in South Carolina.

Distillery: Saint Lucia Distillers

Bottler: Saint Lucia Distillers

Region: Saint Lucia

Still: Pot

ABV: 62.1%

Nose: Menthol, Star Anise, Raspberry, Cherry, Cardamom, Allspice

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Star Anise, Raspberry, Cherry, Orange Peel, Cardamom

Finish:  Long finish, Star Anise, Raspberry, Cherry, Orange Peel, Menthol, Cardamom, Allspice

Conclusion: This is an excellent bottle of rum. Vendome, since my eyes were opened on it a few years ago, tends to be my favorite thing from SLD (though I’ve never had a bad Master Select). Just a stunning bottle of rum. Great well balanced flavor, oak is well integrated as is the alcohol, and if you like cough syrup this has a bit of that in it .
