Kill Devil Bellevue 20 Year 1998 TWB

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1287; Rum #592

This is a single cask of rum that was bottled by independent bottler Hunter Lain & Co under their Kill Devil Brand. This rum was distilled from molasses on a column still in 1998, aged for 20 years, and bottled at cask strength with no additives.

Distillery: Bellevue

Bottler: Hunter Laing (Kill Devil)

Region: Guadeloupe

Still: Column

ABV: 58.6%

Nose: Raspberry, Touch of Cherry, Nuttiness, Raisins

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Raspberry, Cherry, Nuttiness, Raisin, Star Anise

Finish:  Medium length finish, Raspberry, Cherry, Nuttiness, Raisin, Star Anise, Black Pepper, Black Tea

Conclusion: This is a very good rum. It has those notes I like in really old rums, that nuttiness, a bit of star anise, some fruits. However, compared to other rums in this style, it feels a bit watered down. It gets brought down because its like a less powerful version of this flavor profile, but is still very good

Final Score: 85
