Review #1299; Rum #604
This rhum comes from O Reizinho distillery located on Madeira. This rhum was distilled from fresh pressed cane juice and aged for 3 years in Madeira Wine casks before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.
Distillery: O Reizinho
Bottler: O Reizinho
Region: Madeira
Still: Column
ABV: 62.6%
Nose: Figs, Nutmeg, Gigner, Touch of Brine
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Nutmeg, Figs, Brine, Black Pepper, Lemon Zest, Cherry Cola
Finish: Medium finish, Nutmeg, Figs, Black pepper, Lemon Zest, Cherry Cola
Conclusion: This is a great bottling of aged rhum. The flavors are intense and pop, but it doesn’t feel like the cask it was aged in dominates all of the flavor. It provides a nice mix of flavors for the base distillate to mingle with. I’ve enjoyed these aged O Reizinho’s and this one is no exception.
