Review #1304; Rum #609
Here we have a brand I’ve not had yet is know globally, Bacardi. The (in)famous giant in the rum world makes a massive amount of rum and that includes his, the Bacardi Ocho, a rum distilled from molasses on column stills that is aged for 1 years before being charcoal filtered and aged for at least 8 years. This rum has had sugar added after distillation, this is Bacardi of course, to the tune of 12 grams/liter.
Distillery: Bacardi
Bottler: Bacardi
Region: Puerto Rico
Still: Column
ABV: 40%
Nose: Vanilla, Caramel, Touch of Tannins, brown sugar
Palate: Thin mouthfeel, Brown Sugar, Vanilla, Caramel, slight metallic, Orange Peel
Finish: Short, touch metallica, Brown Sugar, Vanilla, Caramel
Conclusion: You know, I’ve had things that tasted a hell of a lot worse, but I’ve also had quite a lot that are better. It certainly isn’t spit out on first sip rum, and it has some ok flavors but it veers into a bit sweet and a touch out of balance at times.
