Uruapan Charanda single agricola Cana Morada

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1320; Rum #325

This rum comes from the Pacheco family Sol Tarasco in Uruapan, Michoacán. This rum is made from fresh pressed cane juice of the Morada varietal that is estate grown at 4,000 feet above sea level. The sugarcane is pressed by a water powered mill and fermented in the air for at least 10 days. It is then distilled twice in a 1,000 liter, wood fired, copper pot still before being bottled with no additives.

Distillery: Pacheco family

Bottler: Uruapan

Region:  Mexico

Still: Pot

ABV: 49%

Nose:  Earthy, Brine, Coriander, bit of taffy, pool water

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Brine, Bell Peppers, Overly treated Pool water, Coriander, Taffy

Finish:  Medium length finish, Chalk, Brine, Bell Pepper, Overly treated Pool Water, Coriander

Conclusion: Its not bad, but I think I prefer the base product. There is a lot of swimming pool water with too much chlorine here for me. It really brings it down for me as the other flavors are not powerful enough to carry it.

Final Score: 77
