Review #1337; Mezcal #82

This bottling of Mezcal from NETA was harvest by brothers Eliazar and Nicolás in early 2020 just outside of Logoche. This small lot came from 22 capón magueys that were cooked in a Conical earthen pit with guamuchil wood for 5 days. It then rested for 18 days before being macerated with a machete and shredder. It fermented in 1200 L Montezuma cypress sabino vats for 14 days before being distilled twice in a copper pot still. A blend of Heads, hearts, and ails this was bottled at high proof for North Carolina in 2021.

Mezcalero: Eliazar and Nicolás García Vásquez

Conclusion: A great bottling of Mezcal , it doesn’t quite rise up to the level of some of the greater bottles, but it’s still high quality and delicious. It’s well balanced but not very complex, but it’d be easy to make this a sessionable drink for sure.
