Review #1340; Rum #644
This is another bottling of rum from Alambique Serrano, that brand the bottles rum from the Krassel brothers distillery in Mexico. This rum comes from the Java sugar cane varietal, distilled in a pot still, was aged in Virgin French Oak casks, and bottled at cask strength with no additives. This was selected for and bottled by The Florida Rum Society.
Distillery: Krassel Brothers
Bottler: Alambique Serrano
Region: Mexico
Still: Pot
ABV: 68.2%
Nose: Honeydew, Nutmeg, Lemon Zest, Black Pepper, Mango
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Honeydew, Nutmeg, Fig, Lemon Zest, Black Pepper, Sandalwood
Finish: Long Finish, Lemon, Honeydew, Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Fig, Minerality, Sandalwood
Conclusion: This is a really great rum, which no surprise to me. It has a nice pop of fruit, with a good spicy backbone that provides a good balance to the fruit and other spices. A bit of sandalwood and mango come in and out as well to tie it all together for me. It lacks some of the pop of other Alambique’s I like more, but this is still a great release. It drinks well below proof too.
