William Hinton Comemoracao 600 Años

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1342; Rum #646

This Rhum Agricole comes from the island of Madeira, and was released to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the discovery of the island in 1419. This rum was made from fresh pressed cane juice with wild yeast on a column still and bottled at 59% with no additives.

Distillery: William Hinton

Bottler: William Hinton

Region:  Madeira

Still: Column

ABV: 59%

Nose:  Brine, touch of raspberry, Lemon peel, Beef Bouillon

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Brine, Lemon, Raspberry, Allspice, Beef Bouillon

Finish: Medium length finish, Apple, Allspice, Brine, bit of Pepper, Allspice

Conclusion: This is a very good bottling  of unaged rum. IT has a nice savory backbone to it that leans a little towards beef bouillon, but not as strong as something like Le Galion. The touches of fruit and spices that pop in and out really bring it together. Overall, a very solid release.

Final Score: 85
