Review by: Raygun

Glendullan is most often found as part of the Singleton brand, which excites approximately no one at all. However, I’ve found the small number of IBs I’ve had good to excellent. Makes one wish the OBs weren’t so horribly butchered, but what can you do? Reviewed from a bar pour. Rested about 10 minutes.
Distillery: Glendullan
Bottler: The Whisky Blues
Region/style: Speyside single malt Scotch
ABV: 54.1%. Cask strength.
Age: 22 years old. Distilled in September 2002 and bottled in September 2024.
Cask type: First fill bourbon barrel #10908. 198 bottles.
Color: Too dark to tell. Natural color and non-chill-filtered.
Nose: Vanilla and toffee with pistachios. Caramel apple cider in a wood shop. Oaky, but not excessively so. Has a bit of sandalwood, which I always love.
Palate: Caramel, brioche, and now takes a slightly herbal turn with thyme and mint. Apple pie a la mode. The nose was buttery, and that’s even stronger here. Not the most fruity Glendullan, but there’s a little caramelized pineapple and lemon.
Finish: More caramel apple pie, with extra butter. Cinnamon joins the thyme and mint. Pineapple.
Conclusion: Great stuff. Very nice richness, and the herbaceous flavor is a very good addition that keeps it interesting. This is exactly the kind of thing I go for these days: a simple bourbon cask left to do its thing for a couple of decades. Not too oaky, though it’s definitely there. Very well put together.
