Review #1347; Rum #650
This bottling of rum is a custom blend done for The Inferno Room, a tiki bar located in Indianapolis Indiana (and a personal favorite stop of mine). Doctor Bird is a brand from Two James, a distillery in Michigan that works with Worthy Park distillate. The rum for this blend was distilled on a pot still in Jamaica, aged for some time in the US and finished in PX sherry before being bottled at cask strength with no additives for the Inferno Room.
Distillery: Worthy Park
Bottler: Doctor Bird (Two James)
Region: Jamaica
Still: Pot
ABV: 59.7%
Nose: Pungent, Banana, Clove, Blackberry, Lime Peel, Saline, Minerality
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Banana, Blackberry, Saline, Minerality, Earthy
Finish: Medium length finish, Blackberry, Saline, Black Pepper, Clove
Conclusion: What a great rum. I can be hit and miss on some of the Doctor Bird releases but I find the finish to accent the base rum very well here. That base punchy Jamaican rum is able to cut through the finish and the finish adds a nice dark fruit note that balances everything out.
