Review #1354; Rum #657
This sample was provided to me by a producer, distributor, or some other industry source free-of-charge. No compensation, outside of the sample, was received and there were no strings attached.
This rum was distilled at a distillery in Venezuela from molasses, distilled on a column still, then aged for 20 years in an ex-bourbon cask then rum cask before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.
Distillery: Unknown
Bottler: Roaming Road
Region: Venezuela
Still: Column
ABV: 57.2%
Nose: Caramel, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Vanilla, Black Pepper
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Caramel, Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Sandalwood
Finish: Medium length finish, Caramel, Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Sandalwood, Milk Chocolate
Conclusion: A very good release. Certainly, barrel driven but there is some good base distillate that is able to shine through. A spice driven dram for sure, but those vanilla and sandalwood notes help to reel it in.
