Review #1376; Rum #679
Mater has the two single varietal releases out the yellow and purple cane, this bottling is a blend of the two to create a single rum from their 2024 harvest. The rum comes from the Almba Distilleria Artigianale, a distillery located on the island of Sicily in Italy. Here, the single estate grows and harvest their cane by hand, crush the cane with a small mill, and ferment with oenological yeasts, for 72-96 hours. It is then distilled in a 600 liter pot/column hybrid still. After distillation, the rum is rested in stainless steel before being bottled.

Conclusion: This is a Great blend. It does a great service to bringing forth the qualities of the two rums that make it up. You get a nice mesh of the fruitier Mater with the more savory Mater. This is real nice and they are a place to watch for more fun stuff. I am always for more distilleries doing fresh pressed can juice rum when it is done this well.
