Review #1407; Rum #706
This is a rum from Renaissance distillery which is located in Taiwan. This rum was distilled from molasses in 2019. It was fermented for 10 days with Dunder and double distilled on a Charentais Pot still. It aged for a time in ex-bourbon casks from Buffalo Trace (WLW) and then for a time in a first fill Champagne cask from France. Bottled at cask strength with no additives.
Distillery: Renaissance
Bottler: Renaissance
Region: Taiwan
Still: Pot
ABV: 70.2%
Nose: Bright, Apple, Minerality, Vanilla, Clove, Coriander, Lemon Zest, Lavender
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Apple, Minerality, Lemon Zest, Clove, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Blackberry, Lavender
Finish: Long Finish, Black Pepper, Lemon Zest, Apple, Blackberry, Clove, Lavender
Another big win for me. These rums punch you in the mouth with flavor and I love them for that. Big bold fruits, but compared to other Renaissance I have had, this one does lean a little more delicate with some of the floral notes and minerality.
