Renaissance Noble Rot STC 4 Year 2019 #19084

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1409; Rum #708

Here we have another rum from Renaissance distillery in Taiwan. This one was distilled from local molasses, fermented for 15 days with no dunder, double distilled on a pot still and aged for 4 years in Noble Rot casks from France before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

Distillery: Renaissance

Bottler: Renaissance

Region: Taiwan

Still: Pot

ABV: 68.5%

Nose: Soy Sauce, Vinegar, Candied Lemon Peel, Star Anise

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Orange Peel, Star Anise, Soy Sauce, Vinegar, Candied Lemon Peel, Nutmeg

Finish:  Long Finish, Black Tea, Orange Peel, Star Anise, Vinegar, Soy Sauce, Candied Lemon Peel

Its funky, its weird, and its excellent. Its pungent, it has a bit of tropical fruits and spices. It really leans into that cough syrup star anise flavor while still being well balanced. They just continue to show how great they are making interesting rums that do taste very different from one another.

Final Score: 91
