Foursquare Mandamus

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1413; Rum #712

Here we have one of the latest releases in the Foursquare Exceptional Cask Series Mandamus (an order from a court to an inferior government official to do their job). This is a molasses based rum that was distilled to from a pot and column blend. The rum then aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon in Barbados before a 2nd maturation in port pipes for an additional 6 years. It was then bottled with no additives.

Distillery: Foursquare

Bottler: Foursquare

Region: Barbados

Still: Pot & Column

ABV: 57%

Nose: Orange Peel, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Coconut Flakes, Leather

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Orange Peel, Leather, Coconut Flakes, Dark Chocolate, Cherry

Finish: Leather, Black Pepper, Dark Chocolate, Cherry, Coconut Flakes, Orange Peel, Earl Grey Tea

Another great bottle in the ECS line. This one brings a bit more dark fruits to the classic Foursquare profile while bringing some of those leather and pepper notes I get in older rums like this. Its well balanced and delicious to drink.

Final Score: 88
