Review #1448; Rum #747
This rum comes from the Savanna Distillery located on Réunion Island. Molasses rum made from local cane was distilled on a stainless steel column still before aging for 3 years in ex-cognac casks at origin before being bottled with no additives by American Independent bottler Holmes Cay.
Distillery: Savanna
Bottler: Holmes Cay
Region: Réunion Island
Still: Column
ABV: 46%
Nose: Vanilla, Ginger, Nutmeg, Slight Pineapple
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Ginger, Vanilla, Pineapple, Nutmeg, Toasted Brown Sugar
Finish: Medium Length Finish, Vanilla, Ginger, Toasted Brown Sugar, Coconut Flakes, Nutmeg
Holmes Cay continues to bottle quality bottles here under their single origin line. These Traditionnel bottlings from Savanna, to me anyway, are in that classic rum flavor line. A bit of sweet, spices, and some nice light oak to round it all together. This was created by Holmes Cay to serve as an addition to creating tiki recipies. But, its pretty nice and easy to sip neat as well. This is a very good and versatile rum.
