Uruapan Charanda Blanco Cana Mexicana

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1449; Rum #748

Here we have a bottle of rum from Mexican producer Uruapan. This rum was distilled from single estate Caña Mexicana sugarcane, fermented in the open with wild yeast for one to two week, and bottled with no additives.

Distillery: Sol Tarasco

Bottler: Uruapan

Region: Mexico

Still: Pot

ABV: 49%

Nose: Lemon, Chlorine, Minerality, Brine

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Brine, Lemon, Minerality, Chlorine

Finish: Medium length Brine, Minerality, Chlorine

This one is fine. It has some decent savory notes, brine, a nice minerality. But that Chlorine pool water note really brings it down for me. On paper, this line should be almost everything I want in a rum. But so far, none of these single varietals have risen above the kind of standard Uruapan bottling for me.

Final Score: 82
