Review #1174; Rum #489
Here we have Denizen Merhcant’s Reserve, a blend of rums from various Jamaican distillery and Martinique. This rum is a blend of 60% Worthy Park Estate and New Yarmouth Rums all aged 8 for years. 20% Is Hampden Estate and Clarendon high ester Jamaican pot still rum. The final component is 20% Sucrerie-Distillerie Le Galion 8 Year high ester molasses grand arome rum. This blend is aged for up to 8 years in Ex-bourbon barrels before being bottled with no additives.
Distillery: Worthy Park, New Yarmouth, Hampden Estate, Clarendon, and Le Galion
Bottler: Denizen
Region: Jamaica & Martinique
Still: Pot Still
Cask: Ex-Bourbon 8 Year
ABV: 43%
Nose: Brine, Vanilla, Soupy, Slight Cough Syrup, Raspberry, pineapple
Palate: Light mouthfeel, Vanilla, bit of brine, Raspberry, touch of pepper, pineapple
Finish: Short finish, Vanilla, Brine, Cough Syrup, Raspberry, touch of pepper, pineapple
Conclusion: This is just fine. I can see why this is a very appealing workhorse cocktail rum. It has a little bit of a lot of different flavors that can provide a great flavorful backbone to a rum without blasting you out of the water with high proof (though I like my cocktails that way).
