Sugar House Scottish Pure Single Rum

Review by: The Auditor

Review #1106; Rum #432

This rum hails to us from Scotland as one of the new wave of UK rum distilleries. This distillery is located in Dumbarton. There the rum is distilled from imported molasses and distilled on a hybrid pot still after fermenting for a week.

Distillery: Sugar House

Bottler: Sugar House

Region: Scotland

ABV: 43%

Price: £29.95

Nose:  Touch of lime, brine, vanilla

Palate: Thin mouthfeel, touch of lime, brine, vanilla,

Finish: Short finish, lime, brine, vanilla, slight apricot

Conclusion: This rum kind of falls into the category of quite a few of the craft rums I’ve had in the U.S. I can get it is meant for your average cocktail and is trying to capture that crowd which I am sure it is well suited for. On it’s own neat, it is uninspiring. Some nice somewhat familiar flavors, but it just isn’t very exciting for me.

Final Score: 77
