Review #1477; Rum #776

This rum comes from a new independent rum bottler in the United States, Spinnaker. This rum comes the Foursquare distillery located in Saint Philip, Barbados. This rum was distilled from molasses from a blend of pot and column distillate. It aged for 8.2 years in Barbados in an ex-bourbon cask, 2.7 years in the Netherlands, and finally .4 years in Texas after being re-casked into a Still Austin ex-bourbon cask. It was then bottled at cask strength with no additives, adulterations, or chill filtrations.

Distillery: Foursquare

Bottler: Spinnaker

Region: Barbados

Still: Pot & Column

ABV: 65.6%

Nose: Vanilla, Toasted Coconut, Dark Chocolate, Black Pepper

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Toasted Coconut, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Black Tea, Raspberry

Finish: Medium Length Finish, Black Tea, Leather, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Toasted Coconut

Foursquare is always a winner for me and this is no exception. Just all those classic flavor notes you find in an aged at origin (mostly) Foursquare rum. Spices, coconut, fruits, a nice dark chocolate backbone. A real winner here from Spinnaker and the entire series is a great introduction to rum as a whole.
