Alambique Serrano Vida Nativa Blend #3: Tepejilote

Review #1529; Rum #828

This is another rum blend from the folks at Alambique Serrano as part of their yearly limited release. This rum was made from fresh cut cane of the Java varietal that was crushed for juice and then fermented in pine tanks with wild yeasts. It was then distilled by Rommel Krassel in a copper alembic pot still.

Cask #1 aged for 33 months in New French Oak and was finished for 13 months in an Ex-Red Wine Hungarian Oak Cask.

Cask #2 aged for 35 months in a Mexican Fortified Wine cask (American Oak).

These casks were blended together and bottled at cask strength with no water, sugar, or coloring added.

Up there on the weird scale with some of the notes I am pulling out of this, but damn if it doesn’t just work. This is an incredible mix of various holiday flavors and spices that really work together for me. If we went off vibes this would be a Christmas time rum for sure, or anytime during the holiday season anyway. Real big props out to Alambique for this one.
