Raising Glasses Return of the Yowie 18 Year 2006 (Beenleigh)

Review #1475; Rum #774

This bottling of rum comes from American Independent bottler Raising Glasses, one of the best independent bottlers in the United States right now. This is a bottling of rum from the Beenleigh distillery. Located in Australia, this rum was distilled from molasses on a pot still and fermented using S. Pombe yeast. This rum aged for 12 years in Australia, 5 years in the EU, and 1 Year in the US before being bottled at cask strength with no additives. The only thing more terrifying than the concept of a Yowie driving a speeder through a forest as depicted on the label, is the chance of those damn Ewoks being in that same forest.

Another excellent bottling from Beenleigh and Raising Glasses no surprise this. This nose bursts out of the glass, it punches you in the face, and just brings you along for a grapefruit, eucalyptus, apple, and spice forward ride. I love these rums from Beenleigh as they are some of the best that I’ve had and should be held up as a high quality mark for Australian rum.
