Alambique Serrano Tanque De Muck 1st Edition

Review #1503; Rum #802

Here we have another release from the Krassel Brothers outside Santa Maria Tlalixtac Oaxaca, Mexico.  This rum came from fresh pressed cane juice grown on the mountainside. The juice was fermented for 10 days in pine vats, with much added during the final 3 days of fermentation. It was then distilled on the custom pot still and bottled with no additives, filtering, or coloring at still strength for T8ke.

Distillery: Krassel Brothers

Overall for me, this falls a bit short compared to the other Alambique Serrano unaged realeases I’ve tried. What has stood out to me about them are vibrant bright fruits that help to balance against the earthy savoriness that Alambique tends to carry for me. This is missing some of those elements that I have come to love from their expressions. Still a quality rum for sure, I consider what the Krassels are doing to be among the best rum being made today, but this one is a bit of a miss for me personally.

Final Score: 85
