Review #1523; Rum #822
This single cask of rum comes to us from Renaissance Distillery located in Taiwan. This rum was distilled on a Charentais pot still twice from molasses in 2018 after fermenting for 17 days in 300 liter vats with dunder using the French West Indies strain of yeast. It was put into a first fill Noble Rot cask and was then finished in a Px cask from Spain. It aged for a total of 3 years at origin and was bottled at cask strength with no additives.
Distillery: Renaissance
Bottler: Renaissance
Region: Taiwan
Still: Pot
ABV: 63.5%
Nose: Orange marmalade, Leather, Figs, Vegetation, Ginger
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Orange marmalade, Ginger, Figs, Raisins, Blackberry, Allspice

As far as rums from Renaissance go its pretty darn good. Very good fruit forward flavor with just a bit of the weird funk I have come to expect from their offerings. It’s missing something for me that would elevate over where I scored, but at the end of the day its some great rum.
